Why is my cat shedding so much?

Likely seasonal; shedding the winter coat. Could be poor diet depending on what brand of food you use. If excessive to the point of bald patches, go to a vet.

Shedding coincides with the longest periods of daylight, which would be right now, in late June. Cats can shed any time of year, but it's most noticeable in summer.

All animals including cats shed hair when the weather gets hotter. It is a natural way to keep them cool in the summer time.

Most animals will lose their winter coats as the weathrt starts to warm up. It could also be fleas, you need to take him to a vet to be sure.
