Some breeds of cats live longer than others. Siamese cats live around 17 years while Himalayan cats live around 14. Cats start to be catagorized as senior cats around the age of 10 years, but that doesn't mean that they are truely old yet. Just start watching for signs of aging, and take your cat to the vet clinic regularly.

Your cat is rightfully called a "senior " cat. A one year old cat is actually seven years old in cat age, a two year old cat is actually fourteen years old and so on and so forth. Even though your cat is 70 years old in cat years he won't be "old" until he is age eighteen.

The normal idea of 7 years to 1 human year is not true but it gives a good base. As such, 10 years can be considered middle to old age.
