Why do some stores ask for your phone number?

Stores like to be able to market to actual customers so they can focus their advertising dollars and not "spray and pray" like they did in the past. Your phone number gives them some information about their customer and demographics for in the future when they hav a sale or special.

Many stores will ask for your phone number when you pay with a check because they want a way to contact you if there is a problem with the check not clearing the bank.

If they offer anything special they can easily contact us. Some stores will convey their wishes on our our spouse or children's birthday or wedding day celebrations. If any new arrivals came or offer any discounts or specials on anniversary offers, it will be easy for them to contact us.
