Avoidance of sugar (especially refined sugar), salt, and make sure to get a well balanced diet full of nutrients. Meals should be routinely spaced apart as well.

Diabetics should avoid eating lots of sugar, of course, but also need to worry about foods high on the glycemic index, which can cause blood sugar to spike. Because these are mostly carbs, a modified Atkins diet would seem to work fairly well.

Do not eat sugary substances such as candy, and do not eat carbs because they are broken down as glucose and cause problems. Eat at regular intervals throughout the day.

If you have diabetes, you should limit sugary foods, fats and alcohol and eat regularly. There is some controversy about how much carbohydrates you should have but it is recommended to get plenty of fiber and exercise.
