The first thing to check is to make sure you are not allergic to deoderant if you use any. It is common to be allergic to it. Second, laundry detergent could be the culprit as well. If you are female and shave, it could be razor burn.

You would have to describe whether or not you shave them. Could be your soap or shaving cream. Could also be the type of deodorant you are using. If there is a rash try a cortisone cream.

Itching armpits may be indicative of inadequate washing or excessive sweating. It can also be caused by allergy to deodorant, laundry soap, fabric softener, or the soap that you use.

Deodorants, antiperspirants, laundry detergent, bath soap, perfume/colognes, dry skin, and the list goes on and on. Unfortunately, the list can also include medical conditions, so if you cannot isolate a home cause for your itchy armpits, you will have to seek the advice of your physician, who will likely refer you to a dermatologist.
