What can cause a brown spot on a dog's eye?

As with a human, this can just be the way it is. However, if this is something new, it could be an infection or an ulceration, and you would want your vet to see it. There may be a foreign body in there, or chemicals may have caused a burn, it could be indicative of nutritional problems.

A brown spot on a dog's eye can be caused by a variety of different things. Brown spots on a dog's eye could indicate that the dog has dry eye. Dry eye is caused by a viral infection which attacks the eye and could have been caused through many different ways

If it appeared suddenly that doesn't sound normal. If it's always been there it is just because of your dog's breed. Some breeds can have eyes that are both blue and brown, such as Australian Shepherds.
