For minor children, a legal guardian acts in the place of a parent. Legal guardians are appointed by the court. The course of the appointment should make the scope of responsibilities clear.

The responsibilites of a legal guardian include providing basic humsn necessities to the minor child, homely atmosphere, clothing, education and pocket expenses etc. Also the legal guardian is a trustee of the assets of the minor child till the latter becomes major.
