You listen very carefully to what your wife has to say because she is your wife and that will have an effect on your marriage. But you make legal decisions based on expert legal advice from an attorney. I recommend you discuss the decision with your wife so she is part of the decision making process.

Listen to what she is saying and research on the points you know would be the biggest issue once you enter a legal suit initiated by her.

Just because she give you advise, you don't have to take it but don't be too quick to discount her advise unless you like sleeping on the couch.

It might be nice that your wife is giving you legal advice, but if she isn't a lawyer the advice is not useful. If you need legal advice, consult a lawyer with a degree who has passed the bar in your state.

I would just smile and nod politely. If you don't want to take her advice you do not need to take it from her. You can even remind her that she is not a lawyer. If you do that you have to be nice.

Be appreciative! I would say something like "Honey, I really appreciate you for caring so much but just to be safe I think we should also talk to the lawyer".
