Symbicort is used for people with severe COPD who have repeated attacks of breathlessness. One has to simply breathe in through the mouthpiece of the turbohaler and the medicine will follow the inhaled air into the lungs. It is important to breathe in forcefully so that an optimum dose is delivered to the lungs.

Symbicort is used to prevent asthma attacks. In the United States, Symbicort is a metered-dosed inhailer, while in other countries like Canada and England it is available as a dry powder inhaler. There are some implications that symbicort can give fast asthma relief, and it has been approved as such by GINA guidelines.
