There are a lot of different factors that contribute to the life expectancy for someone with COPD, including if they are a smoker, obese, suffere from high blood pressure or have a high amount of stress. Its also based on the percent they fall into, whether they have mild, medium or severe COPD. There really is no definitive life expectancy.

Isn't that asthma or is it some other lung disease? With proper care and medication, I can't imagine that it would be any different than for any other person. Don't smoke, avoid common allergenic foods. Exercise, at least moderately. Take medication and use inhalers, if necessary. Live in a mild climate, if possible.

If the medical treatment is good, a person with COPD can become pretty old. Although you need to be prepared to oxygentreatment. But average the life expectancy is slightly lower than a healthy person.

This is dependent on the stage of COPD and his current health and weight. The stages of COPD range from stage 1-4, with 1 being mild and 4 being severe.
