Gas perms are safe as long you take good care of them. Unlike hard contacts they breathe. Wash them before and after you wear them thoroughly. Every once in a while soak them in dish soap and water overnight for a deeper clean.

Gas permeable or GP contact lenses are still good contacts. Sometimes called RGPs or Rigid Gas Permeable contacts most of them have silicone that gives them a little more flexibility than the old rigid contacts and they allow oxygen to pass through to the eye even better than most soft contacts, which is good for eye health.

Gas permeable contact lenses are still used and safe. Some can be worn for many years. If your lenses are wearing out or you're having problems, it might be time for a new pair from the doctor. In general, if you're not having any problems, there's no reason to believe why your gas permeable contact lenses aren't safe to wear.

If you use gas perms, you should be careful because these kinds of contact lenses can cause lens damage and hazards if they're exposed to too much heat.

The best thing to do is to visit your optician regularly and have your eyes and lenses checked out. If you have cleaned them properly and followed instructions, they should be ok.
