Satanism as a religion has nothing to do with the Satanism that we often see in Hollywood movies. There are no ritual sacrifices, etc. Satanism as a religion teaches its followings to live for the moment and selfishly. It embraces pleasure and hedonism and denounces the concept of sin or unworthiness. Most Satanists have very high self-esteem, almost arrogance.

Many become Satanists because of genuine belief. While a few just want attention or low self-esteem, they often don't stay Satanists for long.
