Nurses' Day is on May 6th and is the beginning of "Nurses' Week." The week ends on May 12th (Florence Nightengale's birthday). The intention of Nurses' Day is to honor nurses and educate the public on the importance of nurses, and what they do for us. The history can be traced back to 1953, when the day was first proposed.

National Nurses Day is observed each year on May 6th. It is the first day of National Nurses Week, which ends on May 12th, Florence Nightengale's birthday. Both the day and the week were established to recognize and show appreciation to nurses for the important work they do.
