It is said that if you find the Chief Shooting Star wrapper you will get a free Tootsie Roll Pop. This is not true. One third of all wrappers have that image and the company has said that it has NEVER had such a promotion. Just a widespread, longlasting, rumor.

When Tootsie Pops first became big, if you found a wrapper with a Shooting Star on it, you got one for free. Some stores may still uphold this tradition.

Make a wish before examining the wrapper. If you get a Tootsie Pop with Chief Shooting Star on the wrapper, you get your wish (supposedly)!
