Make sure that you have enough capital to pay your bills for at least a year with no income. It will be a long time before you make money.

You should always check with the state business licensing bureau first to see what forms and licenses need to be obtained for your specific type of business. You may also want to consult an attorney to see if you would benefit from becoming incorporated. Also, check to see if people desire your type of business locally first.

Texas does not have an income tax. However, it does have a business franchise tax. Get a taxpayer ID number for your business. Do not hire illegal aliens, despite the cost savings. Have means of working with Spanish speakers, since this is almost a majority population in the state.

I would first and foremost get a business plan together. Also make sure that you will not need to take any money out of your business for quite some time. Furthermore make sure that you do plenty of market research so that you know what your getting into and you wont be suprised.

Look up regulations and laws for what kind of business you want to open. See how many competitors ou have in the area to see if that location is ideal.
