Many card services providers exist, with widely varied packages. The best fit depends on your businesses' characteristics. Determine your average number of transactions per month, average amount per transaction and number of different card sources. Transaction profile is most important, but beware of high fixed service charges. Also, you may decide not to accept card types rarely presented.

It is easy to accept credit cards and many companies offer free equipment to accept the cards. If in one location, a phone line is necessary to process the cards. If you are on the move, a wireless unit will be necessary. Fees are involved to process.

Find a dealer that sells a machine to run them and then hook it up. Your business will take a 3 to 5% hit on each credit sale though.

First determine your needs (online, offline or both), volume, and any other considerations. Then do research on companies that allow you to accept credit cards. These are available online and offline. Finally, determine which company meets your needs the best and works for your business.
