It depends on what the symptoms are. If they are dying because of improper care during the winter, there isn't much you can do. Maybe you are watering too often?

Deer are famous for eating arborvitae, so if that is the problem you need to fence them off. The soil should be nutrient rich. Make sure there's no bug infestation.

Well if it is dying, I would recommend changing the soil as much as you can. Also try some fertilizer if it works. Use citrus peelings and make sure you water often.

You can try pruning out the dead spots, it will look funny but that might help. Also, try to decide if it's getting too much water or not enough (is it sitting in a high area where water runs off, or a low area where water might collect). Also check it for bag worms, remove them if it has them.

Bagworms killed over 35 of our trees. Check for them a few times a year.  add a comment

Many arborvitae die due to wind damage. If this is the case, place two stakes (one on each side) to straighten the plant. Place a high grade mulch thickly around the roots. Fertilize often and keep the roots wet without over watering. Thin out any dead areas.

First of all, check the roots of the plant. Perhaps the arborvitae is root-bound or there is fungus attacking the roots. Secondly, think about what kind of fertilizing you use, if any. Arborvitae should be fertilized once a year in the spring. If just a few branches are dying off, cut those off and keep the plant well watered.

Unfortunately you can not do anything about it. If an arbovitae starts dying it can not any longer be saved. You can buy some products to slow its dying however.

It depends on what time of year it is. If its winter, then nothing much can be done. Try changing the soil, make sure you water enough and use fertilizers.

You should seek professional help through your local nursey they are hard to care for when they are healthy. They will be able to tell you what you can do.
