The Schacter-Singer Theory is the basis of the two factor theory of emotion. This is that emotions come in two parts, one physical and one mental. That one without the other cannot function and thus no emotion can be felt. This all has to do with physical and mental cognition in humans.

It hypothesizes that physiological arousal and cognition are the two components of human emotion. Cognition is used to interpret what physiological reactions mean.

This theory, also called the Schacter-Singer theory, is that every emotion has two parts. One part is you physiological arousal and the other is your cognition (your thoughts).
