It was introduced by Henry VII in 1485. Todays two pound gold coin was introduced in 1820 and is usually referred to as a double sovereign. In 1887, two pound coins were produced for the Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee. In 1911 proof coins sets were issued for George V's coronation. In 1986 a new two pound coin was introduced
