What is the difference between simmering and poaching?

Simmer is slow cooking something in a liquid while poaching is cooking something in a hot boil liquid. One of them most well known food that is poached is an egg. Simmering is normally the act referred to when one simmers a sauce for example.

Simmering is done below boiling (84-92 deg C) point where the liquid only produces occasional bubbles while in poaching the water is heated just enough to vibrate (81 deg C).
