What worked for me, was, get a bubble syringe, fill it with warm water, put it in the ear, just near the ear. And, keep draining it out. Then, get a cotton ball, run it under warm water, place it in the ear and let it drain on a pillow.

If there is a lot of pain, you should use something with acetaminophen in it, such as Tylenol or Advil. To relieve an ear infection, you should definitely use an oral pain medication. Over the counter ear infection medications may help rid your ear of infection, but they will not kill the pain causing bacteria.

The best "Over the counter" ear infection medication is Guafenesin, as it allows the mucous to drain from the inner ear. When mucous in the inner ear becomes blocked, it can cause ear fullness, dull hearing, and pain. Many different viruses (not bacteria) cause sinusitis and otitis media and are, thus, not affected by antibiotics.

You will not believe this but olive oil, 1 teaspoon of warm olive oil in the infected ear will not only get rid of pain but also cure the infection.

As with any other type the ear infection is caused by bacterias so it is usually treated with antibiotics if natural remedies have failed and it is not mild. Some antibiotics used for this purpose are Amoxicillin or Septra. They usually require a prescription but pharmacies are quite flexible if you explain them for what condition you are taking them.
