It is never appropriate to ask for money in an invitation. Instead you can tell people that money would be appreciated if they ask what the child would like.
There is no appropriate way to ask for money. You can specify "no presents", but that is the limit of you can specify. A birthday part is an invitation to a good time, not an opportunity to beg.
