Oooh! I know this word! LOL, I learnt it from Night World (a great book). But anyways, a chauvinist person is someone who only supports their side or their own arguments. So someone who is sexist is a person with a chauvinist attitude towards gender. :) Read Night World!

A chauvinist is an individual who equates the same, or opposite sex with antiquated prejudices. They could also be an individual who treats others in a lewd, sexual way. The chauvinist is often loud, obnoxious, and has no regard for the way that they are treating other people, or making their victims feel.

To be a Chauvinist originally meant you were excessively proud of your country. The word supposedly is from the name Nicolas Chauvin, who may have served under Napoleon Bonaparte and followed him blindly, even after Napoleon was deposed. Now, a chauvinist is anyone who is stubborn or bull-headed.

A chauvinist is someone who believes they are inherently better than another group, most often referred to as a "male chauvinist pig". THey degrade women.
