Slavery influenced the evolution of America as much as Puritanism or the Enlightenment. It shaped who had power and wealth even after it ended.

Slavery greatly impacted the evolution of the America because it was a way for the colonists to cheaply have labor, as they only had to feed them. But later on, because they did not abolish slavery it led to the American civil war.
