What do I do about a dog with swollen ears?

Swollen ears are typically something called hematomas. The dog shakes his head because he has an ear infection and the ear flap becomes filed with blood. This can be very painful and uncomfortable. The dog needs to be taken to the vet. The vet will likely prescribe antibiotics as well as drain the ears.

The first thing you need to do is make sure the dog hasn't been stung or bitten by something. The other thing is look in the dogs ears and make sure there are no mites in the dogs ears they will also make the dogs ears swell and it can be significant.
