Inability of the oral muscles to hold back their saliva can be a factor. Another would be, if one had a Cerebro Vascular Accident or Stroke that would affect their speech leading to excessive drooling. Another case would have to be what is known as the Bell's Palsy which paralyzes the facial nerve therefore weakening the muscle of the face.

Excessive drooling can result from many things like cholinergic drug toxicity or frey's syndrome (post partoid gland surgery). You should see your doctor.

An over working salivary gland could be the culprit. Some times problems with teeth, such as tooth decay or an abscess tooth.

There are some disordered such as dementia or other mental attributes that can cause drooling. Some people also produce excess salvia which causing your mouth to water more than it usually would.

Excessive drooling in adults can be caused by excess production of saliva in the mouth or if the person is unable to retain the saliva in the mouth.

As the age increases the mind drops control over nerves and other systems.This makes the person to act with out their knowledge.If they are affacted by major ailmesnts like canser,T.B or some other diseases drooling happens.It heralds the death in patients suffering from major disease.
