Biggest reason is going to be under-cooked meat. Always make sure meat is fully cooked (NO PINK) when serving a child. It can also be caused by dirty environments or insufficient hygiene (Always make sure children wash their hands). If its something like Ringworm, that's caused just by touching someone who may of had it.

Pin worms are common in children. The eggs are found around the anus and can end up on the hands of the child or a caretaker. Failure to wash hands after using the bathroom allows the eggs then to be transfered to the sandbox, toys and food, and picked up by another child.

Often it's due to having bad hygiene. Not washing ones hands after using bathroom increases the chance of infection. Or when exposed to dog or cat feces. A lot of pets lick themselves... Also it can be easily contracted from other children who have eggs of worm on their skin, simply by touch.
