If the compressor is not well tight to the fridge chassis it can cause a weird sound because it vibrates more than normal.

The fridge compressor is releasing air when it cycles off. This release of air is what is making the noise. The noise is just the heated air expanding in a cooler enviroment. In addition the water vapor will condense out rapidly in what looks like steam. Its nothing to worry about.

I can almost guarantee you that you have one of two problems here. One, the condenser coils are dirty and need cleaning because this problem makes the compressor work harder. Two, the compressor is old and the parts are wearing out. You'll need new parts or a new compressor.

Refrigerator compressors can make a growling or thumping noise as they cycle off when the unit become clogged with dust and the seal is damaged. Compressors are a sealed motor, and if they become damaged they can slowly develop a growling noise as the bearings become worn. Keeping the unit clear of dust is mandatory for long refrigerator life.
