You can get bruise marks on your legs from bumping into something. It can be something you don't quite remember happening, yet it did in fact happen. Check with a physician if you have more bruising than normal.

The obvious answer is trauma to the leg--a contusion. If you have pale skin, even a minor bump or scrape can result in a visible bruise. If you're noticing that you "bruise easily" now but didn't used to, you should see a doctor, since this can indicate something more serious.

Aside from injury, bruise-marks can occur when there is a build up of fluid or blood under the skin. If they remain present for more than a few days or they get darker, see a doctor.

A lot of times it may be a bruise that you did not remember getting. Bruising easily can also be a symptom of Vitamin D deficiency.

Only a doctor can diagnose your medical problem, but there can be many causes for this from localized injuries to blood clots to conditions like purpura or petechiae which are associated with blood spots. Also, bruise-like marks can be a sign of physical abuse.
