What are these red spots on my goldfish?

If they aren't normal goldfish scales then they could be sores from a fungal infection. Some parasites and diseases can cause red spots. If your goldfish is sick you can try to treat the problem after identifying it. The red spots might be breeding spots. Which are sometimes white and located on the gill covers of the male goldfish.

Redness on a goldfish can be due to stress brought on by poor water quality/lazy fish keepers. If you don't want your fish to suffer you will make more of an effort to care for the tank. Test your water for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. Try a weekly water change of 25%.

well this sounds like your goldfish haves ammonia poisoning. it could also be septicemia which its cause by poor water conditions. so this is real bad for your gold fish

Red spots generally indicate a bacterial disease (such as Costia), and is generally treated with medications, like Quick Cure. Make sure to follow directions.
