Fenofibrate is mainly used to reduce cholesterol levels in patients at risk for cardiovascular diseases. It decreases triglyceride levels, low-density lipoprotein levels (bad cholesterol), and very low-density lipoprotein (bad cholesterol) levels while increasing high-density lipoprotein (good cholesterol) levels.
