The softball force-out rule is that once a runner no longer has the ability to remain on the base they previously occupied, a force-out may occur at the next base.
Softball rules with regards to force-outs are the same as in baseball. If someone is on first base for example, and another player hits the ball, the fielding team can get an out by throwing the ball to second base.
