Some negative effects include a higher risk of skin cancer, dried skin, and increased aging of the skin. However, some positive effects of a tanning salon include a typically westernized aesthetically appealing vibrant glow, and the fact that tanning beds are much safer than receiving outdoor exposure to the sun, as it has a balance of UVA and UVB rays.

There are good and bad effects. Beneficial effects include reduced acne, vitamin D, increased self-esteem, and sunburn tolerance. Negative effects include premature aging, wrinkles, and possible melenoma. To reduce the risks use an expensive UVB bed, liberally use non-mineral oil moisturizers, and do not shower soon after using a bed.

The effects of going to a tanning salon are very similar to exposure to natural sunlight. The risk for burning is higher, as you are directly in the rays at all time, and there is some concern that they have the same ability to cause skin cancer.
