Unfortunately, Alaska has some of the most dangerous jobs of all the 50 states. Jobs in the commercial fishing industries tend to be the most dangerous, followed by jobs in the crab fisheries. In most cases, fatalities are due to falling overboard or equipment related. There are also some fatalities due to employment related aircraft crashes.

Two particularly dangerous jobs in Alaska that have been given a good amount of media attention within the past few years are fisherman and ice road truckers, both of which confront the numerous dangers associated with working in some of the rather extreme natural environments this state has to offer.
