Historically the Methodists are linked with avioding intoxication and other forms of being outside of the "Method" that their faith is named for and many still do hold to Temperance.
Methodists officialy do not approve of drinking alcohol. However, they are more liberal in the present than other churches. They are understanding as long as the person is drinking alcohol and still obeying God's word.
