If the cat has been diagnosed by your vet they should have given you the medications. If it just seems like the cat may have a chest infection you really need to call your vet. It could be many things and trying random antibiotics won't help and may hurt fatally.

Amoxicillin and Baytril are widely used, along with a number of others depending on the type of pneumonia. Since pneumonia can be bacterial or viral, or even caused by inhaling a foreign material, it is up to the discretion of the veterinarian to decide which antibiotic to use in the particular case.

With Pnemonia you can treat the animal with a amoxicillian that you would get from your dr. just a quarter of what you would take. Or you might want to see the vet.

You should talk to your vet about what he recommends for your cat. Different symptoms and levels of pneumonia might require different kinds of antibiotics, as well as the needs of the individual cat.

There are many different antibiotics that are prescribed for cats and a lot of them have different uses. Check with your vet to see which one would be best.

A good thing to do would be ask your local vet for some medication. Many times cats get into things that are not sanitary and they get bacteria and one of few of great medications would be cefuroxime.
