Is it normal for dogs to have hairballs?

I know cats do, but I don't know about dogs.

Hairballs can occur when animals are in need of further grooming. try keeping the coat shorter and daily brushing. If you notice excessive licking, see veterinarian-either behavioral/medical issue

Cats get hairballs from cleaning themselves by licking themselves all the time. Dogs do not do this, so it is not normal for them to have hairballs.
