Question by  AaronCooper (26)

Should I be concerned about a runny nose on my dog?

I don't know if this is just normal dog behavior or if I should be concerned.

A runny nose is not normal dog behavior. A runny nose can indicate an infection such as kennel cough. I would take your dog to a vet to be checked.

Your dog may have a cold. If you live in a hot climate, however, a moist nose can be part of the canine cooling mechanism. If there is actually opaque yello or green mucus, he may have a bacterial or viral infection, in which case he should see a vet.

As long as the fluids from the nose are not excessive there is no need for concern. All dogs have runny noses from time to time.
