Is a lily okay for an outdoor planter in Zone 9?

Lillies will grow in zone 9. If your temperatures don't go below 40 degrees you may have to help certain species of lillies with an artificial cold spell! In October, take bulbs up and place in refridgerator for about 5-6 weeks. Lillies need the cold spell. Replant them in rich soil. Tropical species do not require this.

Lillies come in many varieties and sizes. They bring delightful beauty in the garden. Lily varieties love sun with some shade amd warm weather, consequently they flourish in zone 9. While most lily varieties prefer conditions similar to their native habitat, many can be used in outdoor planters with great sucess. Two examples are the Rain Lily and Canna Lily.

There are alot of lily's that can be planted in outdoor planters in zone 9. One of my favorites is the White Lotus. They are sometimes called the Dotleaf water lily. The large, elegant fragrant white flowers bloom from spring until the end of summer. These can bloom all year round in hot climates. Hardiness zones: 4-11.

Yes, my best bet is that a lily should be okay for an outdoor planter in zone 9. I don't think are any rules governing against that. You should be okay for this.
