I have a Cummins diesel engine. When I run it, white smoke pours out. What's wrong?

It's 5.9L.

There is a good chance you could be burning water or alcohol. The white smoke means that whatever is burning is a clean liquid being turned to gas, the diesel itself could be gelling when not in use.

You have a bad head gasket which is allowing water to seep into your oil. You will need to have the head gasket replaced or further damage will occur.
