The best thing is to see a Doctor; for home treatment, have the child rest, elevate the leg and apply ice! Give some ibuprofen as directed to help with the pain.

There could be easy home remedies for treating pulled leg muscles in children. The affected part could be wrapped with cloth dipped in hot water for a shorter period. The affected area may be massaged gently after putting pain releiving balms. The heat generated melts the lactic acid created in the cramped area.

In most cases just resting the leg and placing warm compresses on it will take care of most pulled leg muscles. If the symptoms persist for longer than a week than a doctor should be visited since it could be something more than a pulled muscle.

You can apply a cold ice pack wrapped in a towel for 20 minutes to the affected area. Do this every hour for four hours.
