How does photosynthesis in algae and bacteria work?

All photosynthesis occurs when energy from light is absorbed by photosynthetic reaction centers- proteins that contain chlorophylls. In bacteria these are in the plasma membrane, in algae chloroplasts.

Converting carbon dioxide into organic compounds such as sugar by using the energy derived for sunlight is called photosynthesis. This process is in algae and in bacteria. Photosynthesis is how the plants produce their own food.
