An Elizabethan cone can be made from posterboard or a thin sheet of plastic available at most home improvement centers. Cut it to size and tape together, being sure the dog is able to eat and drink. Of course, you will also need to remedy the cause of the scratching.

You may be able to get one for a low price from a vet if you ask. If that is still too much, find a piece of poster board or something. Cut out a shape like half of a donut. Tape the edges together. Make sure the hole for the dog's neck isn't too small (choking hazard) or too large (will fall off).

You can use light weight plastic, cushioning and staples to make an "Elizabethan collar", but Serious Caution- scratching is a symptom and can be a heads up. See your vet.

Creating a funnel to stop your dog from scratching is something you can do with either cardboard or with plastic. Talk to your vet, and they will give you some tips, you can also look online.
