Can I make apple cider from scratch?

As from apples, or do I need a mix to make it?

You only really need apples. To make apple cider, just core, puree, and press the apples to get the juice. You can pasteurize it to make it last longer, or even freeze it. Many people will also want to add cinnamon, nutmeg, or other spices to the juice.

You need to choose a variety of apples for color and tartness. Then, clean and blend the apples. Then you get all the juice out and store the cider.

Yes, you can make this from scratch, but you cannot do it in a single day. The process is a little complicated, so make sure you can devote the time (not to mention the apples and elbow grease) to the systematic cutting, squeezing, and fermenting in order to get this.

Basically the only thing you need to make apple cider is apples and an apple press. The apples are pressed to remove the juices and bottled with some spices added.
