How do calisthenics affect your bodyweight?

Or do they just warm you up for other activities that lower your bodyweight?

Calisthenics (or strectching if you prefer) have a minimal affect on body weight. They are intended to help keep your muscles loose and flexible which will prevent injury when performing more intense excercises. Calisthenics will cause a slight increase in metabolism, which helps with weight loss, but a healthy diet and lots of cardio is the right way to go.

If you are a novice or in an de-trained state, calisthenics can help lower your body fat, which will affect your body weight. After you achieve a decent level of fitness, diet becomes more the main factor for bodyweight, and calisthenics are primarily for warm-ups or to increase aerobic capacity.
