Does my HMO (Blue) cover a breast reduction?

It will probably cover it if a certain amount of tissue has to be removed. You should check with your insurance company on specifics and copay/deductible.

The answer to this question is going to depend on the diagnosis, or reason that the surgery is needed, and exactly what is outlined in your benefits. What is covered can differ greatly from policy to policy, even within the same Insurance Company. You can however, contact your plan & ask for a benefits quote to confirm what is covered.

HMO may cover breast reductions if it is medically necessary. If it is just for appearances, it usually is not covered. Call your HMO and ask if it is covered.

Most policies cover breast reduction only if there is a health risk as a result of the size of the breasts.
