No. It may be surprising to hear, but most Betta fish are grossly over fed. The fish is native to Asian rice patties, a murky and scant place for any animal. That is why they can survive for so long out of water and in so little water to start with. I feed my Betta's once every two weeks.

No Betta fish is just as like any other ornamental fishes. There is no need of a seperate weekly feeder. The normal feeding required to other fishes is adequate to betta fish.

Betta fish are good pets because they can last a good little while without being feed. This being said its not safe to just feed them once or twice a week. Betta fish should be fed at least once a day but if this is not possible, once every 2 days or so.

No, a weekly feeder for a Betta fish is a bad idea. Betta's like to keep eating as long as there's food, so overfeeding and overeating is a common and severe health problem for Bettas that can result in their death.

Betta fish probably do better being feed by hand. That way you can monitor the amount more carefully, since you are only feeding one fish in a tank. It can be easy to over feed if you use a mechanical weekly feeder.
