You need to provide details of the issue. did it stop working? is it making odd noises? you can add salt to it and make sure its getting water.

I probably could if I knew what sort of problem you are having with the water softener. Without that information, I'm in the dark. You could check the circuit breaker and make sure that didn't blow from a surge. Also check the manual and see if there's a reset button.
