You can be allergic to anything, including a particular animal. Rats are dirty creatures, so you may be allergic to the dirt or dander that they carry, as well. Even beyond this, however, a person can be allergic to rats just like some people are allergic to cats or dogs.

Maybe, different people may have different allergies, some regard seafood as their enemy, some cough when the air has dust,some vomit when they see rats.
