Why would an accountant need to use algebra on a daily basis?

Not really. I am a CPA and almost never use actual algebra. However, implicitly, the math-related problem-solving skills one learns in algebra would overlap and assist accounting work.

Depends on your definition of Algebra. An accountant has to use basic math but some of the higher functions of algebra they are not required for an accountant.
